A free Father’s Day fishing derby will be held on Sunday, June 19 at Twin Lakes Park from 8:00am to 1:00pm. The event is sponsored by Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation, the Westmoreland County Sportsmen’s League, and Gander Mountain.
First, second, and third place trophies and merchandise will be awarded for the longest trout and longest other fish of legal size in both the adult and youth divisions. Trophies and merchandise will also be awarded for the longest carp, as well as the best “Catch of the Day” in both the adult and youth divisions. There will be a door prize drawing following the derby for all registered participants. All contestants must be registered by 12:00 noon to be eligible for prizes. Registration is free and begins at the boathouse at 7:15 a.m. on the day of the derby. Adults age 16 and over must display a valid 2011 Pennsylvania Fishing License.
After the derby, there will be a special free Father’s Day concert by the Michael Christopher Band (country music) beginning at 1:30pm on the Island Stage at Twin Lakes.
