Labor United Celebration at Northmoreland Park

Northmoreland Park will host the 32nd annual Labor United Celebration on Sunday and Monday, September 4 and 5. The festival will be held from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day, with free entertainment, free admission, and free parking.

There will be plenty of great rides for the kids at the festival. An “All Day Ride Pass” can be purchased for only three dollars, which offers unlimited use of all of the carnival rides, pony rides, petting zoo, and kiddie train rides.

The Alain Zerbini Circus, heads the list of variety entertainment at the Labor United Celebration. Circus shows will be held both Sunday and Monday at 12:00 Noon, 2:30 PM, and 5:30 PM. Some of the acts featured will include clowns, jugglers, aerialists, and performing animals. The circus shows are offered free of charge!

This year’s lineup of musical entertainment once again includes the Vogues, with classic oldies performances Monday at 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM. The Vogues, an internationally acclaimed group, have traveled the world making great music. The audience will recognize many of their biggest hits, such as “Five O’Clock World” and “Turn Around (Look at Me).”

New to the program this year is one of the top variety bands in the country, Gary Racan and the Studio E Band. They group is very unique with their fabulous vocals and are both polished and sophisticated. The group is led by Gary Racan, a former lead singer of a group that had fourteen charted hits and traveled the world performing at major concerts. With a vocal range of four octaves, you will never hear a better voice live. Gary Racan and the Studio E band will perform on Sunday at 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM.

More newcomers to the Labor United Celebration are the youngest rockers in southwestern PA, the Pop Rocks. These young musicians formed in 2008 as one of the bands of The Summer Rock Shop program at The Davis School of Guitar Performance. They quickly became a crowd favorite. They have currently received over 950,000 views on YouTube of their Steelers Song “Heartbreakers” and have performed on the WDVE 102.5 Morning Show. The Pop Rocks will hit the stage on Sunday for two shows at 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM.

Finally, local band On the Ridge will perform on Monday at 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. With a play-list covering everything from modern Top-40 Country and Country-Rock, On the Ridge is certain to play something for everyone. Their musicians have years of experience under their belts over a wide variety of genres, having played everything from classical to heavy-metal over the years! Each individual’s personal style brings a different dynamic to the group, giving their performances a powerful, fun and energetic flair…..They truly are “One Kickin’ Country Band!”

Other attractions at the event include bingo, an Arts and Crafts Show featuring over 50 exhibitors, Earl Schriver’s Birds of Prey, horse drawn trolley rides, and a giant flea market with over 120 vendors.

With good weather, attendance should be between 15,000-20,000 per day. “Set up” at the park is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30.
