The Westmoreland County Adult and Juvenile Probation Departments have opened a joint sub-office in New Kensington, PA. The office opened officially after a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 29, 2010, and is located at 1001 Barnes Street (the corner of 10th & Barnes), New Kensington, PA 15068.

In the past, both departments had separate smaller offices that were staffed on a limited basis. Various issues developed that caused both departments to move from their current quarters and it just made sense to share resources and open one sub-office where both departments could serve the community.

Adult Probation staff will be in the office daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. There will be one adult probation officer aide and two adult probation officers assigned to the office each day. Juvenile Probation will be in the office by appointment only. Both departments will use the office for client check-ins, meeting with families and drug testing. Electronic monitoring and Intermediate Punishment programs will be able to utilize the office for resources as well. The space is equipped with computers and phones which can be utilized by other northern district officers from both offices, eliminating the necessity of traveling to Greensburg to access case notes and other information. More importantly this office will accommodate community members who reside in the northern part of the county.

Adult probation director Bruno Mediate stated, “We are not just renting a building, we are a part of the community and are working to make New Kensington and the surrounding area a safer place.” For further information please contact Chief Adult Probation Officer Bruno Mediate at 724/830-3700 or or Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Adeline Beighley at 724/830-4200 or
