December 5, 2014 – Congratulations to the 16th graduating class of our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. CASA volunteers assist the county’s Children Bureau in protecting kids who are abused or neglected.
December 5, 2014 – A true honor for me to be nominated by the students of Westmoreland County Community College for induction into the college’s National Society for Leadership and Success.
November 28, 2014 – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Annual Vandergrift Holiday Parade. And my boys are always happy to help celebrate!
November 26, 2014 – Always an honor to visit my alma mater. Celebrating student achievement at Norwin High School’s Business-Education-Community Program. What a terrific group of students!
November 21, 2014 – An inspiring celebration marking the graduating class of the “Bridges” program in Jeannette. The program is administered by Westmoreland Community Action and helps people overcome poverty and build better communities.
November 18, 2014 – We’re beginning the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas at the Westmoreland Conservation District. We now have two full-sized pickup trucks running on natural gas, thanks in part to Peoples Gas.
November 13, 2014 – What an honor to present awards to the Champions of the Arts. These local students are as inspiring as they are talented.
November 1, 2014 – I’m having a blast coaching these little Seahawks. Part of Hempfield’s flag football program.

September 5, 2014 – My father made Volkswagens there 30 years ago. Now we are training workers for the high-tech jobs of today…and tomorrow. The grand opening of our Community College’s Advanced Technology Center at RIDC Westmoreland.

March 24, 2014 – Breaking ground for Phase Two of a $20 million sewer separation project in Vandergrift. Reliable, affordable infrastructure is key to revitalization efforts. Great work by borough leaders, and I’m proud the county is a partner.
March 20, 2014 – Always fun to talk to Mr. Ken Stough’s Project 18 class at Hempfield High School. The class is more than civics. It encourages young people to get engaged in the political process. I learn as much as they do.
March 15, 2014 – Hanging out with Team Norwin at the BOTS IQ competition, where high school students showcase their technical skills by building robots that battle each other.
March 14, 2014 – Checking out some of the fine art work at our annual Creative Expressions Show celebrating the talents and abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
March 1 – The word “retarded” is outdated, demeaning and offensive. Quinn, April and Teddy take the pledge to not use it at the End the “R-Word” celebration at Westmoreland Mall.
February 10, 2014 – Meeting with business leaders and employees in our Penn Township Industrial Park. Visited Control Analytics Inc., Ventana USA (pictured) and Rotork to learn more about their operations, and how the county can help them grow and create more jobs. These companies already employ more than 160 workers.

January 29, 2014 – More good news from our Community College. The WCCC capital campaign has raised more than $31 million to better prepare students and train workers. It’s been a great community partnership.
January 17, 2014 – In-Service Day at school leads to impromptu Take Your Child to Work Day. No truth to the rumor that Jack is already planning his 2027 run for Commissioner.
January 11, 2014 — Swearing in the new officers of Hempfield Township’s Fort Allen Fire Department.
